My name is Cameron Zane, i’m the owner and lead filmmaker/editor of Storyteller Visuals. Documenting wedding days is so much fun because it’s such a happy and exciting time! It’s a great experience spending the day with so many couples, and celebrating their love with them. They trust me to capture their special moments, and that’s something i’ll never take for granted. My work as a Storyteller and Filmmaker brings me so much fulfillment. To create something that another person will appreciate for the rest of their lives is one of the most rewarding feelings I’ve experienced.
Cameron is a FAA Certified Drone Operator
Q: How long have you been filming weddings for?
A: I started my wedding videography business when I was 19, so a little over 10 years now.
Q: What’s the most important lesson you’ve learned as a wedding videographer?
A: Be prepared and practice redundancy! Wedding days go by so fast, and you only have one chance to capture the moment, so I’ve learned to be extra prepared and to have back ups for everything.
Q: How has your shooting style developed with experience?
A: When I first started filming weddings, I was always looking for the newest little gadget that I believed would make me a better videographer, overtime I’ve realized It’s more effective to keep my set up simple and efficient, so I’m always ready for the next shot. Plans can change during a wedding day, and I prefer to have a minimum amount of gear with me, so I can be more focused on shooting, rather than moving a bunch of complicated equipment around.
Q: What kind of cameras do you use?
A: My main camera is a Blackmagicdesign Pocket Cinema Camera 4k. It’s a true cinema camera that shoots RAW video, which means it’s the highest quality image the camera can produce, and It’s only a little bigger than what the photographer will be shooting with. The video is very flexible to work with in post production, which is great for weddings since lighting and scenes are always changing. It’s works really well in low light too, which I think is needed when shooting weddings.
Q: Do you provide lighting for the reception?
A: Yep! I definitely think it’s necessary. Bringing my own lighting to the reception has improved my footage of the toasts and dancing a lot! The lights themselves are small so they aren’t in the way or to intimidating for anyone.
Q: What’s your process for putting wedding films together?
A: My basic plan is to make everyone that watches their video to cry happy tears. That and showing off everyone’s crazy dance moves!
Q: Do you have any suggestions for future couples to make their video the best it can be?
A: Write heartfelt letters to each other, and read them to each other after the first look! That’s my favorite!
Q: How long does it take for couples to get their video after the wedding?
A: I work my hardest to deliver a couple’s wedding film within 2 weeks of the event. Filmmaking is my full time work, so when I’m not out on a shoot, you can usually find me at my edit station.
Storyteller Visuals is dedicated to the art of visual storytelling and wedding day documentation. We are available for documenting wedding days worldwide. Our home location is the Florida Panhandle, and film many of our weddings in Pensacola, Navarre, Fort Walton Beach, Destin, 30A and Panama City Beach, FL. (We are also available for travel to anywhere else your story will unfold!)
Our mission is to learn about each couple’s story. Where did your relationship begin? What makes your love special? How can we tell YOUR story in a film?
With each film and story we tell, we always keep our focus on an important value in film making… Content is king. Stories are what matters. The story in a film is what makes any film worth watching. It’s what moves us, and touches our hearts. It’s what inspires us.
Yes, we love studying and learning all about the latest camera technology and film making techniques… But the cameras, the techniques, they’re only good to us if we apply them intentionally to better tell YOUR story. That’s what’s important. Your story.
Stories That Move
As you have probably gathered, the reasoning behind naming our group Storyteller Visuals is because our mission is to be more Storytellers than Film Makers, and we want to tell these stories in a way that moves and inspires others.
We would love the opportunity to tell your story and create a wedding film that documents your wedding in a unique and beautiful way.
